The history of Borum goes way back to the oldest black smith traditions in rural Denmark.
More recent - before the 1960’s, when the age of the automobile together with the modern industrial world had long arrived, road marking on the Danish roads still took place with paint and a brush. With an ever-growing car pool and a considerable expanding pressure from traffic, new road marking technologies where desperately needed.
When the innovative and entrepreneurial Ejgil Jensen took over his father’s renowned blacksmith he realized there was no future in the old-fashioned business. Instead, he designed and built a machine to apply the iconic – and increasingly omnipresent – white stripes to the highways of Denmark, to help maintain some semblance of order in the exponentially growing volumes of traffic.
In the years that followed up into the 1980s, Ejgil Jensen successfully developed the family's blacksmith business to a flourishing engineering workshop that also built and repaired a wide range of equipment – including machinery, all kinds of vehicles and the snowplows essential for keeping Danish roads drivable in winter – for the local authority.
This was the beginning of what is now Borum A/S – the world's leading supplier of high-quality line marking machines, with a streamlined, modern factory and with dealers and agents worldwide delivering state-of-the-art line marking technology and know-how to customers in more than 100 countries throughout the world.
